In 2007 Bulgaria became a member of the European Union and Bulgaria’s visa requirements have been changed to meet the EU requirements. Citizens of all European Union countries are able to have visa-free visits to Bulgaria for a total of 90 days within the period of 6 months. Non-European citizens are usually required to obtain a short-term visa from Bulgarian embassies or consulates abroad.

Important!   Visa application processing can usually take up to 10 working days as each application needs to receive clearance by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sofia. Please make sure you allow enough time for the visa application in order to avoid stress and disappointment.
